‘Fighting Cancer on foot’
Seen here walking the North Coast Cornish Footpath
Thankfully, Spring is on the way and walkers can don their rucksacks once again as we venture out into the light evenings for a breath of fresh country air.
WALKING GUIDE
The new illustrated guide, Gwennap Walks (available in May), provides an interesting overview of this once prolific region of Cornwall, highlighting many intriguing landmarks and sites.
ART GALLERY (future project)
Walking gives me inspiration for many things and more recently, I have painted book covers and illustrated The Great War Poem booklet with some poignant and spiritual art. Most new publications will contain artwork and prints of the detailed works will soon be available from an online gallery (for a small fee). Exhibitions of original work will be promoted via seasonal newsletters and social media updates.
NEW BOOKS
New titles of EBOOKS will soon be published each month: these include Pilgrim routes and local walks. Expeditions will be categorized by Continent, country or region. Proceeds from all creative work will help fund walks and other valuable charity work.
30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY WALK (Remember 1992?)
30 years down the road having walked 30,000+ Charity miles and pilgrimages, it is time to look back and remember where it all started.
Setting of from Cornwall during April/May, I will endeavour to repeat my very first long-distance charity walk which ultimately inspired me to powermarch across the globe. The original walk which supported The Imperial Cancer Research Fund took a week to complete a 300-mile route between Launceston and Oundle, Northamptonshire.
This proposed walk will be nearer to 400 miles and will include a warmup period of 4 days walking from Land’s End to Launceston. Beyond Cornwall, camping equipment and full backpack will be required for the remaining 7-10 day walk which will take in slightly longer off-road sections compared to the trek of 1992.
